Hello, it’s another Sunday. Welcome to another issue of the newsletter.
Continuing from the previous issue, another aspect of personal development which directly leads to a remarkable financial life is a career.
Careers are a very crucial aspect of our lives. Probably the most important after health and relationships.
As young folks (I believe most of my readers are under 28), our career is probably in the best shot at the moment to start building wealth. This is because we have potential—a substantial potential, aka Human capital.
This Human capital is what we harness when developing ourselves further to become better at what we do. That is, we create more value.
Unlike older folks, they would most likely have more wealth (financial capital) than you, who is just starting. This is because they have used most of their human capital.
Similar to the relationship between kinetic energy and potential energy. At rest, the potential energy is maximum, and the kinetic is zero. When a body is in motion, the potential energy is at zero, and the kinetic energy is at max.
When you’re starting, focusing on harnessing your potential is more valuable and yields more than trying to maximise the little financial capital you might have.
The old are rich in financial capital. After a lifetime of saving and investing, people in their 60s and 70s tend to be flush with cash, stocks, bonds, and real estate.
The young are rich in human capital. Your human capital is your ability to earn a paycheck. The more paychecks you have left to collect in your life, the more human capital you own.
Talking about building a career is not something I can write about- I’m also just starting. However, there is a newsletter & community on career stories and lessons that I recently joined.
Concrete Ceilings is a paid, invite-only newsletter 100% focused on young people aspiring to have high-impact careers. Stories, lessons, learnings and everything nice. New posts every other Friday.
If you are interested, you can reply to this mail privately to get an invite.
PS: I have one 1 invite left.
